Interview with MOB

interview - 02.08.2018 19:01

Japan's strongest zako band is here!

JaME's Finnish version recently had the opportunity to speak to MOB, a visual kei band formed in September 2017, about their music.

Would you introduce yourselves to those who haven't heard of you yet?

MOB: Nice to meet you all! We are MOB - Japan's strongest zako group (note: zako means something "crazy" or "psychotic"). Zako for us is self-destructive and self-ironic music with a heavy sound, and we let it echo in our hearts! Once again, pleased to meet you.

How did you decide to start making music with this line-up?

MOB: The core was U (vocals) and MAST (guitar) and around them assembled Chihiro (guitar) and RIN (bass), and that's us as a result.

Which bands have influenced you?

MOB: Morita Doji, Fuji Keiko, EGO WRAPPIN, amazarashi, KORN and Marilyn Manson.

MAST, you have been in the visual kei scene for quite a long time. What do you think will make MOB unique?

MOB: We follow the path we ourselves believe in — devoted and unwavering.

What's the story behind the single KILL ME WONDERLAND?

MOB: The paradise of lonely murders and the problems at school.

You use drawings in your logo and the CD covers. How did you end up with this kind of aesthetics?

MOB: We wanted to express autism, self-destructiveness and extinction.

What's the best thing about touring?

MOB: For us it's important that the people get to know us.

What kind of plans do you have for the year 2018?

MOB: To spread zako across Japan, across the whole world.

How do you spend your spare time?

MOB: I'm looking for words to express self-destruction. I brood in it in my fiction. I seek the sounds of it.

Would you like to leave a message for your fans?

U: Pleased to meet you! I am the vocalist U of Japan's strongest zako group. I will do my best to deliver my song of self-destruction and loneliness especially for you, dear reader. Thank you!

Chihiro: Hi, I'm MOB's Chihiro. I want to get crazy with you guys on the brink of self-destruction.

MAST: I'm MAST. I want to introduce MOB to you. Please love me for it!

RIN: Hello, I'm RIN the bassist. Let's get broken together. I'll be waiting to see you at the gigs.

JaME would like to thank MOB for this interview!
