L'Arc~en~Ciel's First Concert in Indonesia

On May 2nd at about 8:20 pm, approximately 10,000 fans gathered in Lapangan D Senayan to become a part of history, to see L’Arc~en~Ciel live in Jakarta for the very first time. The fans who have been enthusiastically waiting to see their dreams come true are shouting and screaming their favorite L’Arc~en~Ciel members' names.

At last, they’re greeted with a video which shows the route of L’Anniversary World Tour 2012 on the giant screen above the stage. The members of L’Arc~en~Ciel then come onto the stage, fascinating the fans with Ibara no namida. Tonight, the dream of 10.000 fans is coming true.

The mood of the show becomes more lively with songs like CHASE and GOOD LUCK MY WAY. hyde’s voice sounds a bit hoarse, and he gives an MC to the audience using Bahasa Indonesia (the primary language in Jakarta). "Halo Jakarta! Kami L’Arc~en~Ciel, kamu senang bertemu aku?" (Hello Jakarta! We are L’Arc~en~Ciel, are you guys happy to see me?) As a response, the fans start to scream in excitement. hyde then continues: "Aku juga, selamat menikmati" (Me too, please enjoy the show). Giving his gentle smile, hyde starts to play his guitar, and HONEY begins. The whole audience in Lapangan D starts to sing along together.

Drink it Down and Revelation answer L’Arc~en~Ciel’s promise to make this outdoor performance a hot one. The mood then becomes calmer when Hitomi no juunin is played, the fans singing along together.

Sexiness has always been a part of every L’Arc~en~Ciel performance, especially when the English version of X X X is played. The silence after the song doesn’t last long before ken plays the intro to Fate. The mood of the show continues to be calm yet emotional when hyde sheds tears during the performance of Forbidden Lover. After a brief guitar solo from ken, My Heart Draws a Dream is then played. hyde asks the fans to draw their dreams while singing the lyrics "Yume wo egaku yo.. Yume wo egaku yo.. My Heart Draws a Dream."

Applaus at the end of the song turn into bursts of laughs when ken starts to give his MC in Indonesian by screaming “Mantaaap!!!” (It’s been great!!!).

L'Arc~en~Ciel then keeps on rocking with songs like Seventh Heaven and Driver’s High. A short bass solo session from tetsuya kicks off the intro to Stay Away, which then continues into READY STEADY GO, bringing the fans to full excitement. The song ends with a drum solo session from yukihiro.

Rain starts to fall on the fans while they’re singing the chorus of Anata, asking for an encore. L’Arc~en~Ciel obliges by returning to the stage, answering the fans calling with Anata and The 4th Avenue Café. The concert gets a little dramatic as many fans are crying from happiness after ten years of waiting to see this iconic band. The show isn't over yet as L'Arc~en~Ciel plays Link next, including a ‘naughty’ MC from tetsuya in the middle of the song.

It’s been over two hours since the show began, but every beginning must have an end. The fans' sadness soon disappears though after hyde and tetsuya promise to come back to Indonesia again. The concert then closes with the last song for the night, Niji. Needless to say, the band has lived up perfectly to the fans' expectations, proving them the long wait was definitely worth it.
