vistlip is celebrating its sixth anniversary since its formation and musically, the five members have come a long way. Now, the band is back with its 11th single,
CHIMERA, with a refreshing concept of spring. Released on April 3rd,
CHIMERA is available in the usual "vister" and "lipper" types as well as a digipack limited edition containing a booklet.
The intro to
CHIMERA feels like a dream, with a strong guitar line and powerful piano chords throughout.
tomo’s high notes in the chorus are chillingly beautiful while the guitar solo remains memorable.
Light up matches well as a B-side with a similar sound to the track.
Another low-key track,
inc., included on the limited edition of
CHIMERA, is very surprising.
tomo sings gently against a soft mix of acoustic guitar and a light patter of drums.
Available on the "lipper" type of
CHIMERA,
System down dips into the past, borrowing from
vistlip’s older, hard sound from older releases.
tomo’s vocals pierce the ears, his screams matching the dangerous, dark guitar riffs.
The tracks collectively across all types of
CHIMERA fit into the theme of the cover art that depicts an abstract view of the ground of the interior of a glass dome that is covered in flowers.
CHIMERA’s concept likely relates to spring, to new life and growth and a vivid imagination as personified by the
chimera, a mythical fire-breathing creature that apparently was an omen of natural disasters and the like.
All-in-all,
vistlip's
CHIMERA shows an interesting concept with a selection of interesting tracks.
