Yousuke, the leader and founder of the group, was a big fan of Yoshiki (ex. Mazohist). Just like his idol, he learned to play drums and piano. Considering his age, he has an impressive talent for these two instruments. When it comes to his compositions, they are of a surprising maturity for an indies group. He's joined by his younger brother, Totto (ex. DAHLIA), on vocals. Totto's singing voice may not have been perfect in his early years, but this was primarily because of his lack of experience and his young age. However, he managed to improve very quickly and his progress is clear on each recordin). In some songs he barely sung properly and in others, his voice is beautiful and touching, and he also has the ability to scream well in particular songs.
Tomo and Yukino (ex. Mazohist) form the twin guitars of L, DEAR. Yukino replaced the previous guitarist Shoji after he left the group. They give melody to the group and already are quite talented considering they still have the ability to improve. Then there is Taka, the bassist of the group, and his playing often resembles that of Taiji or Heath, whereas his look is fairly androgynous. Visually, the group has evolved alot. After some fairly sombre debuts, they finally opted for a much more visual look.
In 1998, Yousuke, at that time 20 years old, decided to form the group L'DEAR. Very quickly, they started performing live and only two months after the formation of the group, they were given the chance to do their first oneman live infront of 150 people. The same day, they put their first maxi-single, Ai no Biyaku, up for sale. Three months later the single, which was limited to 1000 copies, sold out. On the day of his birthday, Yousuke decided to release their first demo tape Biyaku Kara Densetsu He. It is at this time that Yousuke creates the label Art Life.
On the 6th of July, 1999, Shoji decided to quit the group. He was soon replaced by Sala, but the latter also left the group after only a month and a half due to health reasons. Luckily, on the same day as his departure, he was replaced by Yukiro, who integrated himself well in the group. Their first album, which had been planned for the 24th of October, was pushed back due to problems the band encountered with their guitarists.
Finally, their first album, Love Dear, was released on the 16th of December under the label Nippon Crown. In January of the following year, they presented a new song during their live. In February, they held their third oneman. Their audience increased slowly but surely, and the group seemed to have a promising future lying ahead of them...
Sadly, that future didn't last long and the group announced that they would be disbanding after the release of their new single. For one year, Yousuke had been working on his label Ld (love delusion entertainment) and even released an album: cause. He also performed lives with his brother under the name Love Letter. Then, at the beginning of 2001, we learned that L, DEAR would be reforming with a new guitarist and a new bassist. They released a single and an album, densetsu kara kami hana he. But unfortunately, the band announced their disbanding in June of the same year.
