Transtic Nerve was created in November 1996 with the starting lineup of Taka on vocals, Masato and Tao on guitars, Ryo on bass and Masaki on drums. Their first album Transtic Vision was released the following August and the band also took part in The End of The Century Rock V omnibus around this time.
It didn't take long for this band to catch hide's attention and he quickly insisted that they be signed to his LEMONed label. They released a video containing the clip for the song Whisper and it was available in a few indies stores. After the release of their second mini album, Transtic Nerve took part in LEMONed's label tour.
Transtic Nerve became major on March 17th, 1997 with the release of their Shindou single and their first full major album was released in July. The band was given the opportunity to work with super arranger Hajime Okano who had previously worked with the bands La'Cryma Christi and L'Arc~en~Ciel. Okano's subtle addition of synth sounds gave Transtic Nerve's compositions an added edge and overall balanced sound.
To commemorate hide's untimely death, Transtic Nerve covered his song ever free for the tribute album hide Tribute Spirits. Another single was released later in the year.
In mid-2000, Transtic Nerve released two new singles, INTO YOURSELF and Binetsu, both of which were followed by long tours that took up the majority of the year. In the following March, their second major album, RECALL was released. The band had kept the same lineup as well as the same sound and it was, and still is, quite a rare instance. After the tour for RECALL was completed, Transtic Nerve released another single and launched a long tour in the fall.
Since 2002, the band hasn't had too many releases. A single was released in mid-2002 and the band participated in more LEMONed events for that year. 2003 was even less eventful as only one single was released. Transtic Nerve picked up speed and released one album and two mini albums, both of which were best of compilations, in 2004. Transtic Nerve's sound changed to something called "neo metal" with plenty of synth added in.
The band's latest release was the mini album Hole In The Wall in August 2005. That year, as well as the following, the band toured and performed in live houses all across the country.
In may 2007, Transtic Nerve performed their first show out of Japan. They performed a showcase together with the band D+L in Los Angeles, USA.
On December 30th, Transtic Nerve played their last live. On the first day of 2008, the five band members started a new chapter in their career as they changed the band's name to the Underneath. The line-up remained exactly the same and, even though they are still a very young band, they have already managed to establish themselves firmly not only in Japan, but also overseas as they toured the USA extensively with the Rockstar Taste of Chaos tour.
