FLOW

FLOW: from two brothers in an X JAPAN coverband to an international original act.

Brothers Koushi and Take started their band activities in 1993 when they were still students. Koushi's biggest idol was hide (X JAPAN) and the two soon started their own X JAPAN cover band, WYBURN. Koushi played hide's role while Take took PATA's. With the end of X JAPAN, WYBURN changed from an X JAPAN cover band to a hide cover band, and they changed their name to Pinking. Around this time they also started writing some of their own songs and the band soon evolved from a cover band to an independent band.

They released their first demo-tape and made the decision to change their style when it sold out. They thought about creating a band with two vocalists and light hip-hop influences. In 1998 they created the band FLOW and filled their lineup with Keigo as the main vocalist, Got's on bass and Iwasaki on drums, alongside Take on guitar and Koushi as their second vocalist.

In August 2002 FLOW played for the first time at the Ginowan Kaihin Kouen yagai gekijou open air festival in Okinawa. Their first limited single, Flow#0, was released soon after and was followed by two mini-albums, Sunshine 60 and Like a rolling snow, later that same year. Both were quite successful on the indie charts.

In January of 2003, they released their next single, Okoru Kotoba, which remained at the top of the Oricon Indie charts for seven weeks. More singles and their best-of album, Splash, came after. In July 2003 they had their first major hit with Blaster. After their next release, Dream Express, FLOW began their first tour in October. Their first single, GO!!, from their Game album, became the third opening song for the popular anime "Naruto," and ranked 6th on the charts, staying there for three weeks. After the release of Game, FLOW held another tour, Flow Summer Live Tour ~Touzananboku - Natsu no jin~.

Over the next several years, FLOW's discography grew rapidly. Releasing a series of live DVDs and a number of singles, the 2006 single COLORS reached second place on the Oricon charts, a new feat for FLOW. Their live activity also remained steady through this time, building a fanbase throughout Japan. 2007 was kicked off with more releases, including ANSWER, which became the opening theme for the live action "Tanei Gakuen Q." FLOW ended 2007 with the release of Fuyu no Amaoto / NIGHT PARADE featuring Home Made Kazoku.

In 2008 FLOW released three new singles, as well as their newest album, ISLE, in March. Amongst these singles was WORD OF THE VOICE, which was used as the second opening theme song to the anime "Persona ~Trinity Soul~." The group embarked on a tour in the late spring, hitting every prefecture across Japan with the tour final at Tokyo Budokan.

Among a flurry of releases the next year, FLOW started their spring tour, NUTS BANG!!! in March. Also appearing at many festivals including FUJIYAMA MUSIC FESTIVAL09×NOREN09, they went back in tour in fall with the Sign tour through September before returning to the recording studio.

Working their way into their twelfth year of activities, 2010 for FLOW was exceptionally busy. Releasing the single Sign in January, the band started their nationwide tour MICROCOSM in May and also appeared at Fanimecon in San Jose, California. By August, they performed at LIVE CIRCUIT NEXT 2010 and released their new album, MICROCOSM, within Japan and France. In October, they played at Act Against AIDS 2010 and released a new single right before the new year.

FLOW kicked off 2011 in style, with the release of the single 1/3 no Junjo no Kanjo in March, as well as a best-of album on April 13th. Furthermore, FLOW appeared in the United States twice: once at Anime Central, and once at FanimeCon.
