ibara

The band ibara was founded in May 2002 by Aki, former vocalist of the band EZRA, which had been active in the late 80s. Former kitsunebi musicians Yoshimura and Sano both joined the band and Youki, former bassist of tokushu butai completed the line-up.

The quartet played their first concert at Live Station, a small live house in Meguro, Tokyo. During this concert, they took the opportunity to give away their first, self-titled demo single. Their performance was received well and since then they received extra support from the live house. Live Station therefore became the main venue for ibara’s concerts and it was also there that they first organized their own events entitled STOIC PRESENTS: "Ignorance".

They continued with their own events in the following years and changed the name to GEKUKUJYO. Mostly, visual kei metal bands were invited to play at these events and amongst them was the rather unknown band BADGE-X, for whom guitarist Yoshimura played as a support member. Slightly more known bands such as ARESZ, Bang-Doll and XECSNOIN were also part of these events.

In May 2003, ibara released their first mini-album Kewaishi on OUTBREAK RECORDS, a label owned by the Live Station livehouse. After that, there were no more releases and instead the band focused on performing live.

In 2004, their live activities increased and in November a change took place in the line-up as Youki left the band and Rin, formerly of Cerberos, joined them. The following year continued in the same fashion with many concerts, but 2006 brought a stop to their activities. After only playing two shows that year, they played their final show on May 7th at their base Meguro Live Station and have been on an indefinite break since then. It seems that after their disbandment, none of the band members continued their music career.
