THE VELVET started in October 2002, formed by Reina, BERA, MiMi and LEM. All the members, except for the vocalist Reina, were former Velvet Eden members; they had their first performance on October 13th.
Their first release, the mini-album Flash Back, was released on November 2003. With a concept of "prehistory", the members had costumes match the idea, resulting in particularly revealing outfits. To promote this release, they held a short tour from November to December.
In 2004 they had several performances, and in March, they released their first maxi-single, Shounen. In the following three months they embarked on an extensive tour and performed with the band Gargoyle.
They continued to perform, but unfortunately on December 16th, Reina departed from the band. Later, it was revealed that bassist MiMi would replace him and take care of the vocals.
However, in the following three years, the band's activity turned very quiet and it even seemed that they had parted quietly, because there were no signs of activity from the band. Then, in March 2008, the trio made an unexpected comeback, announcing a new live schedule.
It's great to see the band, despite their struggles, has not given up, and hopefully THE VELVET will record new material soon.
