BAISER

BAISER

BAISER was created in 1991 by the vocalist and leader Yukari. The line-up was the following: Hiderou and Akane on guitar, Haiji on bass. Gaz, who was the former drummer of Malice Mizer, was their support drummer until Akihiro replaced him in 1993.

In 1993 they released their first demo-tape Daraku, of which only 100 copies were distributed amongst their fellow classmates. They participated in some compilation albums, and their second demo-tape, Fleurs des Fleurs was released a year later. Around this time, their image was quite dark. They gathered some fans, and in 1994 they released their first album, titled Seppun Kuchizuke.

There was another change in the line-up, and the drummer Akihiro left the band and was replaced by Toshimi in 1995. Together with this new drummer they recorded another album, Ash. If you compare this album with the CDs they released after 1997, you might notice that this one sounds a bit 'darker' then their later albums.

In 1996 the band decided to split up, due to musical differences.

However, Yukari didn't give up, and he started to recruit new members to resurrect BAISER. The band was finally reformed again in September 1997 by the following members: the first one to join him was Shaisuke (former Penicillin), on bass. Then Katsura (former Shazna), on drums joined. Mizuki and Rei, both guitarists and both former members of the band IRIS joined, and Yukari had a complete band again!

In 1998 they started to release an amazing amount of singles, mini-albums, and albums. In one year, they released two singles, three mini-albums and a full album. Next to all these CDs, they also released three videos.

1999 started pretty calm for BAISER, but in May they signed with a major label, with Prism as debut single, which was produced by Hakuei Penicillin). After the release of Prism they had several more releases before recording their last album Hana. In the same year they also had their first major tour, called Prismatic Colors.

In May 2000 they released their last maxi-single, called Pegasus. And after a long period of silence, they announced that they were going to disband on January 5th, 2001, ten years after the band started.

After BAISER

Yukari and Mizuki formed the band Endorphine with two other members, but the band disbanded after three releases in 2001. Mizuki seems to have disappeared, and Yukari has started to produce bands, such as a number of releases for Rentrer en soi.

Rei, Shaisuke and Katsura decided to stay together as well, and formed the band Swallowtail. Rei changed his name to SIN and took the position of vocalist, while they recruited the former Baiser guitarist Hiderou as a support guitarist. However, this band didn't last long, and they disbanded as well.

Rei/SIN disappeared as well, but Katsura continued to stay active, first joining Vinett and then Cannival Method as well as occasionally supporting the session band ANTI FEMINISM. Though since Cannival Method has disbanded, nothing has been heard from him since.

On July 16, 2001, a very tragic car accident happened and Shaisuke passed away. May he be happy wherever he is now.
