Brothers Jun-Ya and Kazuya put the band together in 1991 with their two friends Joe and Shira. They gained a small following during the following years, but nothing major. They remained an unknown act until 1994, when their debut maxi-single Explode a Bombshell created a buzz among Japanese punk enthusiasts. Their debut mini-album, released two years later in 1996, solidified their status as underground punk icons in their homeland.
However, their careers really began taking off in 1999 after five European shows, where crowds responded in a most positive way. Deals were soon inked with Hellhornet Records, and BOMB FACTORY released their full-length, self-titled debut (after a two month Japanese tour) to the delight of many punk rock fans across Japan and Europe.
Then, in 2000, something happened that turned the band into the Japanese punk band. Bad Religion was touring Japan, and BOMB FACTORY had been selected to be the opening act. This ensured that every punk fan across Japan got a taste of what they had to offer.
BOMB FACTORY has been synonymous with punk ever since then, and have had quite a busy schedule. In 2004, they played overseas for the first time, playing a fourteen stop tour across France. Upon returning to Japan, their schedule has been equally hectic. That same year their album Another Day, Another Life hit store shelves, making its way to France the following year.
Over the next two years, rather than spending too much time in the recording studio, BOMB FACTORY focused their time on the stage, releasing just one single and the album Social Suicide in 2006. They spent the fall touring through Japan during the Social Suicide TOUR 2006-2007 and carried right on performing into the new year, wrapping up their tour in the spring. Shortly after their release of the Greatest Hits album, the group hit the road again.
While Japan didn't see any releases from BOMB FACTORY in 2008, the United States did, with of the album Moshing Through Tokyo after signing to California record label N2O Records in the summer. While the band intended a tour that year, it never occurred, instead playing through Japan during the year. 2009 was a year of silence from the group, but in 2010 they were soon back in action, releasing three singles, Slide a Gun, Infected and MIGHT BE WRONG monthly during the summer, and saw their new album, CLOSED reach CD stores on December 1st.
The group has big plans for the 2011 year, with the CLOSED TOUR starting in February, shortly after an appearance at Shibuya Club Asia. With a hefty schedule through the spring, fans can be sure to see BOMB FACTORY at a city near them soon!
