AURORA

AURORA was first founded in November 1999. Although information about the first line-up is hard to find, it seems that guitarist Shinobu, bassist Muramasa and drummer Shion formed the band. The line-up was completed by a vocalist, but his name is unknown.

In December 2001 they had their first live, but on the same evening the vocalist decided to quit the band. In February 2002, Kaila entered the band as their new singer.

With Kaila they released their first maxi-single, titled Philosophy, in December of that year. Even though it was only their first release, it was well-received and got plenty of appreciation from overseas fans.

On March 30th 2004, they participated in an event called OSAKA MUSE Loop Ash & DEAD ONE. At this live, they sold their second maxi-single, Unconscious. It was limited to only fifty copies, and was only sold there. Unfortunately, this concert was also their last, because they disbanded that same evening.

For a few years, it was silent around all former members of the band. However, in May 2006, Kaila resurfaced and formed a new band called gechena, using the name SORA. After also gechena disbanded, he continued with other bands and projects and is currently part of INO HEAD PARK.

In 2008, guitarist Shinobu started a project called it revives. Surprisingly, his website featured the song entreat with the old AURORA line-up. It seemed that this was only a one-time activity, however, as no other songs were published.

Another big surprise for AURORA fans came in May 2009, as Shinobu launched a new website on which he announced that AURORA would be reviving. Apparently, not all the former members shared the same thoughts as Shinobu as only bassist Muramasa had joined him from the old line-up. They recruited another guitarist and drummer to complete the line-up, and Shinobu filled the position as vocalist as well. The new band performed various concerts, but there were no new releases. As of 2010, their activities halted and their official homepage disappeared. One can only assume they have gone on hiatus again.

At the moment, it is unclear what the future will hold for AURORA. As time has shown, the band is up to surprises and perhaps will see another revival.
