Codomo A began in the summer of 2004, started by vocalist Eiji and drummer Dai, both formerly of the band Macaroni. Next to join were the two guitarists Nie and Takken, then finally Kouta on bass to complete the lineup.

The band released their first maxi-single, Rettou Jidai on November 17th of the same year. On January 1st of 2005, with just that one release under their belts, Codomo A became a part of Kisaki‘s label Under Code, and participated in many of the label’s events and both a compilation CD and DVD. Mid-June saw the release of the band’s third maxi-single, Tenjou ura renbo that contains the fan favorite Sekirara COME ON BABY. They stayed quite busy, and in July released their very first mini-album, Kodozm.

September 19th marked Codomo A‘s first oneman concert, held at Osaka Muse. Things for the band were relatively quiet until November hit, bringing them appearances on two omnibus CDs and a special Under Code tour date. They closed out the year with the release of Saihousou + Yokokuban on December 7th and a live on December 18th at HOLIDAY UMEDA.

2006 would prove to be without a doubt the most eventful year for Codomo A. On January 22nd and 23rd the band held two concerts in honor of Eiji‘s birthday, and a few days later on the 25th released two mini-albums, Otoko no ko and Onna no ko. The band continued to tour and on July 19th released both a maxi-single called Jinsei Game and their first DVD of PV’s, Seishun Tokusatsu.

On September 16th, 17th, and 18th, Codomo A held three versus concerts with Guruguru Eigakan, Dokusatsu Terrorist, and The Pumpkin Head respectively, followed by many oneman lives. At the end of November the band again released two things on the same day: a mini-album called Seishun Kiokusouchi and a live DVD, Seishun Housou. Unfortunately, 2006 did not end on a happy note, as bassist Kouta played his last live with the band on December 29 at Osaka Muse, causing Codomo A to start 2007 with a pause in activities.

As if losing a member wasn’t enough, Codomo A lost one of its founding members, Dai, due to unfortunate circumstances regarding his exploitation of vocalist Eiji and theft of equipment and large sums of money. Just a short time later on January 24, the band’s Best Of album Unou Shiki was released. This was followed by the release of their second live DVD, Sanou Shiki on February 21.

Despite all of the obstacles that had been thrown at them, the band continued on and in late March, changed their name to Kibouya Honpo. The announcement of the name change was not all there was, though: three new members had been added to the band. The new members were: a second vocalist by the name of Haru, Ayu, formerly of Dokusatsu Terrorist, on bass, and a new drummer, Mizuto.

Kibouya Honpo‘s first release, a mini-album called Kibou Yuugi is set to be on April 25, and there are already many shows lined up for the newly-renovated group.
