TOSHI got his start in music, along with his friend YOSHIKI, in Chiba at a young age when the two started the band NOISE. In their second year of high school, NOISE disbanded and X was formed.

X remains one of the most influential bands in Japan's popular music history, especially among visual kei aficionados. TOSHI attracted plenty of the band's fans thanks to his versatile voice; he was able to shout and scream insanity-tinged songs one moment and smoothly belt out heart wrenching ballads the next.

When the members of X took a brief break in 1992, TOSHI released his first solo work, the single Made in Heaven. The single was quite a bit more mellow than what fans had come to expect from the members of X, but many still faithfully followed him. Shortly after this, X reformed under the name of X JAPAN and TOSHI once more took his place as the band's vocalist.

In 1997, TOSHI announced that he would be leaving X JAPAN. As one of the founding members, alongside YOSHIKI, and the group's vocalist, this was the band's death knell. To this day, many rumors continue to swirl around his reasoning, but whatever the reason, X JAPAN disbanded that December.

It was during this tumultuous year that TOSHI's mindset changed and he began a new phase of his musical career as a "healing musician" by playing heartfelt concerts in the hope that he could bring peace and happiness to all those who heard his music. He started workig with MASAYA with whom he released the album Beautiful Love Song, which became the first of a series of "TOSHI HEALING" musical works. During this post-X JAPAN era, TOSHI embarked on several years of touring and playing at various charity events.

The year 2007, which marked the tenth anniversary of the breakup of X JAPAN, was brightened by the announcement that the band was reforming for a trio of very special reunion concerts at the prestigious Tokyo Dome arena. The sold out events delighted the legions of X JAPAN fans who attended.

In mid 2008, TOSHI returned with two mini albums (each containing one original song with many different versions), Seiki Jidai and Beautiful World. These releases served as an overture to the announcement of his new project, TOSHI with T-EARTH. The band is based around an ecological theme, which is reflected by the "Eco Hard Rock" genre the band categorizes itself as, in contrast to the gentler healing music of TOSHI's previous solo music. The band's first release, Earth Spirit, went on sale on August 8, 2008. During the Autumn TOSHI with T-EARTH embarked on a tour of South America.

A new album entitled Haruka naru toki wo koete is due out in November 2008, followed by a series of live events, including the highly anticipated "TOSHI with T-EARTH Christmas LIVE in TOKYO 2 DAYS" concerts."
