ABIGAIL started out creating demos in 1992. At that time the line-up was Yasuyuki (vocals, bass), Yasunori (guitar) and Youhei (drums). They performed together with the succesful SIGH, but it didn't take long until the going got lonely: Yasunori and Youhei left the group in 1993. Therefore the first official release, mini album called Descending From A Black Sky, was in fact a solo accomplishment of Yasuyuki. It was released by a Dutch label.

A few years later, ABIGAIL was about to participiate in their first split record. This 1995 release was split with the Dutch band Funeral Winds. In February the band got back to their original line-up as Yasunori and Youhei both re-joined. The result was Intercourse And Lust, an album that was quite well-received within the underground metal community.

ABIGAIL performed in France and Germany in the year 2001. However, in February of the next year Yasunori left the band, and Asuka joined to replace him in the role of the guitar player. In the end of 2002 this reformed act toured the US with a small tour named Black Metal Yakuza. In the same year a special version of Intercourse And Lust was released. Asuka left ABIGAIL in 2003 and this time Yasuyuki and Youhei decided not to replace him - instead, Yasuyuki would also play the guitar parts. Asuka, however, participiated in the recording of their new album, Forever Street Metal Bitch. The guest musicians included Shinichi and Mirai of SIGH.

Dutch label Displeased released a limited 999 pressing LP edition of the album called Fucking Louder Than Hell, saying it would never be released on a CD. In June the band played concerts in South East Asia, and at the end of the year they returned to Europe, in order to tour some more. A new album, Ultimate Unholy Death was released the following year.

In May 2007 ABIGAIL performed Finland for the first time. The show was part of the Kamikaze Metal Attack Over Finland Tour tour and hit five cities. In August, the band celebrated their 15th anniversary at Hatsudai Wall in Japan. The band finished out the year with several live shows, and by March played in Nakano, kicking off the new year. In July, ABIGAIL again performed at Hatsudai Wall, soon after releasing the album Alive in Tokyo. By October, the band performed at the festival Oppression Freedom Oppression Vol.7.

While there were no releases from ABIGAIL in 2009, they resurfaced in the fall, performing in Berlin, Germany at NUCLEAR WAR NOW! Fest Volume 1 on November 13th.

Since this time, the activity of ABIGAIL has been quiet, with no releases or upcoming lives scheduled. With Yasuyuki's side project, TIGER JUNKIES still active, it is unsure whether ABIGAIL will resurface in 2011.
