What do "Pretear", "Ai Yori Aoshi", "Ah ! My Goddess", "Sailor Moon R" as well as "S", "Gunparade March" and "Texhnolyze" all have in common? It's the singer of those anime's original sound tracks, the lovely Yoko Ishida.
From Niigata in Japan, Yoko Ishida begin her singing career in 1993 by performing the song Otome no Policy, ending theme song of the anime "Sailor Moon R". Her career focuses mainly on the animation domain as she has performed theme songs for many successful television series adapted from famous manga like "Ah! My Goddess", "Ai Yori Aoshi" and "Texhnolyze".
Since 2000, Yoko Ishida transposed her passion for "para para" to the anime world. This famous Japanese dance style, simple and cheery, was brought to popularity by bands like SMAP in the late 90s. She released nine albums in succession, "re-using" anime and sentaï theme songs in the collection Parapara Max, which included themes like Zankoku na Tenshi no Te-ze from "Evangelion", Just Communication from "Gundam Wing", Pegasus Fantasy from "Saint Seiya", Catch You Catch Me from "Sakura", Tank! from "Cowboy Bebop" and many more !
An artist with many talents, aside from being a singer or an occasional seiyu (anime dubber), she had been co-animator of the radio show "Masami Okui no KISS3" from 2002 to 2004. She also composes and performs songs for children.
2003 was a year of confirmation for Yoko Ishida. During this year she released her first original album, Sweet, followed by All of me in 2005.
It was also at this time that Yoko Ishida's fame crossed the ocean to the United states. Declared an "Anime Pop Star" her albums Sweets, All of me, Para Para MAX US Mix Vol. 1, 2 and 3 were pressed in an American edition. The success of her show in the USA allowed her to release a DVD, Anime-Pop Star Yoko Ishida Live in Concert in 2005.
Very attracted to other countries, Yoko Ishida has been performing for several years in Brazil, Mexico, Spain, and the USA, finally arriving in France in October 2007 where the French fans had the chance to meet her for the first time.
