GReeeeN

Despite the true birth of GReeeeN taking place in 2002, the current line-up was not completed until 2004. All four members met while studying dentistry at Ohu University in the Fukushima Prefecture. Although they were still in school, the band began activities between studying, and kicked off their major career in 2007 prior to graduation.

GReeeeN first came to life with the debut of their January 2007 single, Michi, released under Nayutawave Records. Within just a few months, the band released two more singles, and their music quickly climbed its way up the Oricon weekly charts, with their third single, Ai Uta reaching second place in its sixth week. In June, the band released their very first album, A, domo. Hajimemashite.. The CD sold over 500,000 copies and ranked second on the charts almost immediately.

By 2008, GReeeeN had taken Japan by storm, releasing three singles and a second album, A, domo. Ohisashiburi desu. Also releasing music digitally, the physical copies flew off the shelves, and they sold 2,301,674 copies of the song Kiseki online. This song later broke the Guinness Book of World Records for the best selling song in Japan.

The band spent the beginning of 2009 in the recording studio, and by spring had released two singles, including the ever popular Setsuna which was also featured in the television drama "Voice" that year. That fall, GReeeeN released two new albums, including their best of, Ima made no A-men, B-men DEST!? .

In 2010, GReeeeN embarked on the Hudson x GReeeeN tour, sponsored by Hudson, a company within the video gaming giant Konami. In April, the band released the Nintendo DS game "Hudson x GReeeeN LIVE?! DeeeeS?!" and by May, released five editions of their double greatest hits album, 10 AB DEST!? TOUR!? 2010 SUPPORTED BY HUDSON× GReeeeN LIVE!? DeeeeS!?". In November, rumors began to fly that the band would be disbanding, but official statements were soon released by both Universal Music Japan and HIDE that this was not the case, and that the band would be releasing new music in the future.

True to their word, GReeeeN released the single Good Lucky!!!!! on March 2. Soon after the March earthquake in Tohoku, GReeeN released a statement that in May they would be beginning the Green boys Project, and would release a song Green boys, which would not only be given away, but would be recorded in seven languages. Additionally, the band has reached out to fans asking for photos from people across the globe. The free song and directions on their photo collection can be found on the Green boys Project homepage.
