After the separation of K’s previous band GUNDOG on December 31, 2004, the young vocalist surrounded himself with other established musicians to create Pay money To my Pain.

First was the Hispanic-Japanese guitarist PABLO, who started his music career with the band GIRAFFE in 1999 and has also been a support guitarist for FAKE? and Takui Nakajima. The second guitarist, JIN, had produced groups such as ROTTENGRAFFTY and GReeeeN (for whom his brother, HIDE, is the vocalist). T$UYO$HI, the bassist, was in DRUG STORE COWBOY and has since participated in Def Tech. Lastly, the drummer ZAX was in the group Falon.

Once the band was formed, they produced songs by themselves before quickly getting noticed by the record company VAP. Their first major maxi-single, Drop of ink, was released on December 6, 2006.

Several months later they headed off to California to record their first album, Another day comes, which was released on September 12, 2007. The group left for a nationwide tour of Japan in October.

The album received a great deal of exposure, as three of its songs were used as themes for TV series. HOME was the ending theme of the anime “Buzzer Beater,” Paralyzed ocean the opening of the drama “The Quiz Show” and Another day comes the ending song of “Ultraseven X.”

In 2008, the band released an EP called Writing in the diary, which would also see some of its songs used on television and in a video game. Unfortunately, JIN would go on to leave the band that year.

The next two years brought more releases and touring. Their song Bury was used as the opening theme to the anime “One Outs.” Then, on January 26, 2011, the band released Remember the name, which went on to hit the fifteenth spot on the Oricon charts.

In 2012, Pay money To my Pain participated in the second tribute album to BUCK-TICK, released their first best-of album, Breakfast, and planned to embark on a one-man tour. Unfortunately, in October, they announced that the tour would have to be cancelled and that they would pause all activities to allow K, who had been facing ongoing health problems and been hospitalized several times, to focus on recovering.

On January 10, 2013, the band posted a message on their website stating that K had passed away on December 30th, due to acute heart failure. He was only 31 years old.

Later in the year, the band announced that one of the last songs K recorded, Rain, would be used as the theme to the film "Seki Seki Ren Ren". Soon after, the band announced that they would release the other tracks completed before K's untimely passing on their fourth album, gene. Released on November 13th, the album was completed by emotional performances from guest vocalists such as Taka from ONE OK ROCK, Ken from CROSSFAITH and JESSE from RIZE. The band held an event called ~From here to somewhere~ at Zepp Tokyo on December 30th, which was streamed worldwide via Youtube.

Since then, the remaining members of Pay money To my Pain have been keeping busy with other projects. PABLO continues to perform as a support member of FAKE?, while T$UYO$HI and ZAX are playing in a new band called The BONEZ, which they formed with JESSE and NAKA from RIZE. ZAX also occasionally performs as the support drummer for AA=.
