MaveRick was formed in March 2006 by young members of recently split bands: Kray and Kenji (both ex-Grind), Mukuro (ex-HATED) and Makoto (ex-KeiL). They started their live activities with a gig on March 7th at Nagoya ell.FITS ALL and the band continued playing lives in their hometown, distributing their first demo-single at the shows. That summer, the band expanded their activities to other parts of the country.
The band’s songs were featured on two omnibuses, which helped them to gain more recognition and allowed them to play their first free one-man at Holiday Nagoya on October 14th. At the beginning of November, MaveRick released their first full album and continued touring. In January 2007, they played another one-man, although this time it was not free. In July, the single SILENT DEATH was released and, busy as ever playing lives across the country, the band gradually gained more popularity.
Although their steady success continued in 2008, it was announced that the band would stop activities after their live on June 8th. This live became the start of the new band, EAT YOU ALIVE, as the four members continued making music together. Kray changed his stage name to Hiro, and Mukuro to Ryouhei. The first single released under their new name, JENNIFER/Hanamizuki, was available for pre-order on the same day and came out on general sale ten days later.
They played another one-man in August and the band continued touring, although comparably less and concentrating mostly on Nagoya and Osaka. They played lives steadily throughout 2009. On June 13th, the band organized an event which saw MaveRick perform a one-day comeback. As EAT YOU ALIVE's activities continued, the band simultaneously released two maxi-singles: ADULT CHILDREN OF ALCOHOLICS and ATROCITY AND BLUE. At a New Year countdown live, the group performed as MaveRick once again.
The year 2010 started with the release of their fourth maxi-single, Coke in a vein, and another maxi-single followed in May. Leading up to the release of Missing you/Akatsuki was the novel Akatsuki, which was written by Hiro and uploaded gradually onto the band's official homepage. The band's sixth maxi-single REVIVE, which consists of three re-recorded songs previously released when the band was known as MaveRick, came out in August. At their successful second one-man in September, EAT YOU ALIVE announced that they would soon become a five-member band. Indeed on October 1st they were joined by a second guitarist, Shoya (ex-Juliette), and the band's first single with the new line-up THE REASON was released at the end of December.
Playing a number of one-man shows in 2011, the band released their album The world is mine in August, which was soon followed by the single INGRAM sold only at their lives. Not slowing down in 2012, the band released two more singles in April and May, one of them being another release of re-masterings of MaveRick's songs. After having released their mini-album Catedral in July, the band is set to embark on their first one-man tour, consisting of dates in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya.
