Foxxi misQ

Foxxi misQ, Japan's answer to Destiny's Child, is still a relatively young group. They were formed in July 2006 when record label Face 2 fAKE wanted to create a Japanese group akin to the aforementioned Destiny's Child and found the three members who would later become Foxxi misQ at the NTV Uta Star talent show. These auditions sought to find new girls for a vocal and dance unit with a theme of "wild and sexy." One concept behind the group was the idea of searching for their own style and the eventual members, CHiE, DEM and YU-A all had their own unique personalities that could combine to create this idea of Foxxi misQ - Foxy! and Miscellaneous. Unlike many trios, where one member performs the bulk of the vocals while the others effectively act as back-up, Foxxi misQ shares their singing and dancing with an aim to provide performances incorporating each of their personalities through their singing and dancing.

Their debut single, Tha F.Q's Style, was a clubbing number that set the tone for future Foxxi misQ releases. This was followed by Ultimate Girls in October, a sexy number with a cover that revealed a lot of skin and left little to the imagination. The first few singles barely made an impact on the Oricon charts, however, and it was only their fourth, Luxury Ride feat. ZEEBRA, which was released in May 2007, that put them into the top 50 at position 41. That said, it was recognized by TBS who used the track for the opening theme to CDTV that May. The girls were also signed as spokespeople for SKECHERS shoes in Japan.

This promotion seemed to do the girls a lot of good as their first album, Gloss, outranked their previous singles, putting them at 27 on the chart, their highest position thus far. Following this release was their first live tour, also titled GLOSS. The girls were relatively quiet after the tour, confining themselves to the club scene with appearances at nightspots like Vuenos in Tokyo until their single, X.B.F, hit shelves in early 2008. While their live performances remained low key, the single received promotion via its use as an ending theme for a number of TV shows, including TV Tokyo's "Sukibara."

Foxxi misQ has just released their sixth single, Say you luv me, their first balladic a-side, and there are more exciting plans on the horizon as DEM is to take part in the musical "Rent" starting in November.
