In August 2006, a brand new rock band known as SCANDAL was formed, featuring four bright and talented high school girls from Osaka. On weekends they would perform at Shiroten, a Mecca for street performers located near Osaka Castle Park. As time passed, SCANDAL slowly began receiving gig offers from clubs and halls around Osaka and Kyoto.

Eventually, hundreds of fans appearing at street performances became a regular occurrence for the girls. Positive reviews and band recognition spread nation-wide, reaching all the way to Tokyo. In August 2007, SCANDAL took the opportunity to participate in a special event at Shibuya Club Asia, one of Tokyo's most recognized and respected clubs. During their first trip to Tokyo, they were invited to a radio show as guest artists and also to a university festival to perform on stage. As an indie band with unreleased songs, this was unusual, but it helped the girls rapidly penetrate both the music industry and the local community as well.

The following year in 2008, SCANDAL dove into the world of anime and each member was turned into an animated character. The animated SCANDAL drove a series of short animation movies on the Internet. On March 3rd of that year, the band's eagerly anticipated first single was released. Shortly afterward, they departed for a two-week and eight-city USA tour, including a stop at one of the USA's biggest animation events, Sakura-Con in Seattle. Thanks to the tour and their ever-increasing popularity, SCANDAL signed with major label Epic Records that same year.

During the next three years, SCANDAL’s popularity grew exponentially, leading to a number of singles, two albums and a couple of concert DVDs. Of course, in the process their music was continually used for anime productions. As of 2011, they are still going strong and in July they made an appearance at the AM2 convention in California.
