Takashi Fujii started out as a business man before signing onto the entertainment company Yoshimoto Kogyo in 1992 as a new comedy act. His television debut was successful, and he continued to act and appear on variety shows over the years. In 2003 he made his first debut in the western world starring in the movie "Lost in Translation." Today, he is regularly featured in a series of television shows.
Takashi launched his musical career in 2000, with his first two singles, NANDA KANDA and Ai mo Kawarazu. His music grew with quick popularity, and in the next two years, he produced two more singles and his first full album, Romeo Michiyuki, in February 2002. He launched his first tour, Romeo-Michiyuki Tour 2002, and released a DVD in December with footage from these shows.
Takashi Fujii remained busy with his acting career through the rest of 2002 and was absent from the music world until 2004, when he released another full album, All By My Self, and a single, Watashi no Aoi Sora, in July 2004. On September 25, 2004, he performed at Fuchuu Theater in Japan, subsequently releasing a DVD in October 2005 also called Watashi no Aoi Sora, which contained the performance.
OH MY JULIET!, Takashi's four track single was released in October 2005, which was produced by Tommy February6, a popular Jpop artist. The single became an instant hit across Japan, and was featured on the soundtrack of the western film, "Babel" which debuted in 2006. Takashi held a short tour in Fall 2005 which included four dates, two in Japan, and two shows in Los Angeles, California and Shanghai, China.
In 2006 he released a third DVD entitled World Tour 2005 which included concert footage from his show in California and China as well as the tour final at Zepp Tokyo. His next CD release was in April 2006, which was a CD and DVD full album combination entitled SHANGHAI TA-WA which featured 10 tracks including OH MY JULIET! and a remixed song. Takashi's most recent works was in May 2007 in which he released SHANGHAI TA-WA:2, a follow up album, and August 2007, with a two-track single called Manatsu no Yono Yume which featured Seiko Matsuda, a Jpop singer from Fukuoka.
It has been a few years since Takashi has focused on music. In January 2009 he appeared on the online variety show, Yoshimoto online. More recently, Takashi joined the cast for the theatrical performance Spelling Bee. He will appear during its production run from July to August. Aside from appearing in a variety of television shows, all was quiet on Takashi's side during 2010. He has not made any announcements for new music or movie appearances.
While Takashi Fujii's focus is not solely on his musical career and his releases are spread out over time, he continues to produce quality music that pleases audiences. With good humor and talent up his sleeve, fans are unsure what Takashi might unveil next but are sure to be eagerly waiting.
