Shuji to Akira

While Shuji to Akira first began making appearances on television to discuss "Producing Nobuta", it was only one week after the drama began airing that the unit had their first musical performance. Appearing on "Utawara Hot Topic 10", a music program featured Sundays on Nippon Television, they performed the drama's theme song Seishun Amigo, which hit stores in CD form on November 2nd.

Both Kamenashi and Yamashita were floored by the success of the single, watching it skyrocket on the Oricon music charts straight to #1, and remaining there for the next 34 weeks. By the end of the month, the single had sold more than a million copies and the band was requested to perform live nine times before the show wrapped up on December 17th.

Despite "Nobuta" being over, the legacy of Seishun Amigo and Shuji to Akira was not, and the single continued to sell well through 2006, ranking #1 on the 2005 and #3 on the 2006 Oricon annual charts. Shuji to Akira additionally performed another four shows before going on hiatus in the summer of 2006.

Although both members of the popular Johnny's bands have returned to their busy schedule, the duo have been meeting yearly for a reprise of Shuji to Akira on New Year's eve, performing the world famous song at the Johnny's Countdown Live, and are expected to hit the stage again this year.
