It was in 1997 that the band capsule was created, after the meeting of Yasukata Nakata and Toshiko Koshijima during the TEENS’MUSIC FESTIVAL in the region of Hokuriku.

Yasukata Nakata is an accomplished musician, taking care of the production of the band as well as its artistic management, the conception and also their style. He’s also the one who composes and writes all the songs of the band. Toshiko Koshijima is the singer of the band.

It was in 2001 that they started to produce a lot, by releasing their first single Sakura with Yamaha Music.

In 2003, Yasukata Nakata created his own label: contemode, with which he would produce bands like Nagisa Cosmetic, copter4016882, Meg, and also the female trio Perfume, bands about which he would often write in his live journal. Yasukata Nakata also wrote several songs for the artists of his label, and also composed for m-flo. All of this in addition to making the arrangement and remix of several songs. He also worked as a DJ for popular events in clubs, for fashion designers, fashion magazines, and other things. He kept strong ties with the fashion world.

In 2005, Yasukata Nakata directed a short animation movie, "Flying City Plan", produced in cooperation with Studio Ghibli. The music was of course composed by Yasukata Nakata. This movie was included in a DVD, "Short Short", which sold several hundreds of thousands of copies in Japan.

In 2007, the album Sugarless GiRL reached 1st place on the Japanese iTunes Music Store album ranking, and also in the electronic ranking. Meanwhile the song Starry Sky from this album was number 2 in the electronic ranking in Switzerland.
