Lulu first started out with two members, Taa and Yu-ki, who had gone to high school together in Aomori. After high school, the two moved to Tokyo to find members to join their band and found Tatsurou and Kaito. With these members, they formed LuLu in 2005 with a medical theme. The band members were referred to as a 'medical team' and their fans referred to as 'patients' with their music as 'medication'.

The band’s four members consisted of Taa as the vocalist and director, Tatsurou as the guitarist of psychiatry, Kaito as the guitarist of internal medicine and Yu-ki as bassist of pediatrics. Even though Shounari has been with them as the drummer of dental surgery since the beginning, he was always listed as a support drummer, even though he was often with them for interviews, photoshoots and events.

It was on November 27th 2005 that the band performed their first 'examination' at L@N Akasaka. Their first release was the single Seishin Chintsuzai, which was released on May 12th 2006, which was also the day of LuLu’s first one-man performance. Starting in July of the same year was their three month consecutive live campaign which ended in September with their second single, Genjitsu Fukansho being released.

April of 2007 was a busy time for LuLu as they released their first album Daizero Shuchu Chiryo and were included on the onimbus album CROSS GATE 2007~STRAWBERRY SEEDS~. They also re-released their first single Seishin Chintsuzai, which had sold out, during this year. They concluded the year by participating in two different events on the same night. They began as the main act for Ikebukuro CYBER countdown and then immediately hurried off to what was the biggest visual kei event, stylish wave COUNT DOWN 07-08.

LuLu announced that they would go major in April 2008 with their major debut mini-album Dr. Sterben, gathering popularity in the visual kei scene. They also announced that on June 23rd they would open their official fanclub, ICU. Two limited singles were released the next month, Kusuri and Doku, and were the first of LuLu’s releases to make the Oricon weekly indies charts, appearing in sixth and seventh place. With no apparent break, they kept on going, releasing their first major album Nihon Iryu Kakumei a few weeks later on August 6th, with a tour following this release. In November, they re-released three of their sold-out releases from their time as an indies band.

The year 2009 brought a huge change to the band. At their February 24th live, LuLu announced that Tatsurou, Kaito, Yu-ki and Shounari were leaving the band, but thatLuLu would still go on with Taa. After this revelation, a new live was announced with the name of Resurrection of the Doctor, marking LuLu's second stage. It was at this live on March 11th in which the new 'doctors’ were announced, with Sayuki as the guitarist of psychiatry, Yuki as the guitarist of internal medicine, Ryuusuke as the bassist of pediatrics, and Manami as the drummer of dental surgery.

With this new line-up, LuLu is actively touring around Japan, gaining new fans and growing in popularity. Even with an almost entirely new line-up, they still seem to be going strong.
