It was in Tokyo of 2006 when Kulu Kulu Garden was born under the impulse of Ryotaro Aoki and Kotone Miyahara. The unit played regularly in the Tokyo area until the departure of their former drummer in late 2007. During this year, the band also produced a homemade demo.

In order to replace their missing drummer, Takahashi Kyohei (member of the band Far France) came in as a session member. His arrival also marked the recording of their first EP, Detorake yuuenchi, which was released in August 2009 and was later available in November on iTunes. To celebrate this release, the band played at a special release party with other bands like Goomi and Owarikara.

In 2010, the band planned an acoustic live for which they rearranged their songs into something more calm and melodic. For this show, the band invited other talented musicians on stage, including Kotaro Nomoto (H Mountains, Lemons) on bass, Ryo Kuroki on drums, Taku Kameda (Owarikara) on melodica and the violinist Ryogo Kobota (Goomi) . The year 2010 is also marked by another opportunity as Kulu Kulu Garden was one of the five guest bands playing at the first volume of the Next Music From TOKYO, an independent festival in Canada.

Kulu Kulu Garden seems to be growing in popularity and will certainly take part in this new generation in the Japanese indie rock scene.
