Rinka

Rinka was born on May 21, 1973 in Tokyo. At the age of 18, she was spotted on the street by a fashion scout and soon after appeared in a fashion magazine for the first time. The model made her musical debut two years later in 1993. It was a lucky coincidence, since she was sharing an office with ZARD singer Sakai Izumi. She was invited by the office president and a musical career was offered to her.

In the same year, Rinka's first single Tsuki no biyaku was released via BMG Victor. Two years later Jirettai yo ne, the second single, followed. During that time, she started to model again and also appeared in some dramas and movies, thus going on a musical break.

Not until July 2006 did Rinka return to the music scene with her self-produced single XXX (Millions Kisses) which was released by avex this time. The single peaked at the 30th spot on the Oricon Major Charts. Her fans also got to see her live at one a-nation event at Ajinomoto Stadium on August 27. Unfortunately, another year went by without much activity until her Blondie cover single MARIA/smile hit the stores.

Since that time her musical career was put on hold again. In March 2011 she donated a large amount to the Japanese Red Cross to help the victims of the Tohoku earthquake. Furthermore, Rinka gave birth to her first child in November.
