Formed in 2009, PASSPO☆ is made up of ten girls who were chosen after a contest on the "Minna de tsukuru idol unit" ("Everyone makes an idol unit") blog. The blog began advertising about the creation of a new unit in January of that year, and over the course of several months, utilized public opinion in forming the unit.

After several meetings, it was announced that ten girls had been selected and would be revealed on June 1, 2009. The girls' hometowns range from Saitama to Tokyo and Kanegawa, and all were born between 1991 to the youngest, Anna, being born in 1995.

On November 17, the group held their first live at morph-tokyo in Roppongi. Over the next few months PASSPO☆ was quiet, but this did not last long: they held a three-day public performance called Cherry Blossom Color from March 20 to 22, 2010 and just ten days later released their first single, Let It Go!.

Over the next few months, PASSPO☆ held several lives including their first one man at Harajuku Astro Hall. On July 14, the group released their second single Hallelujah. Just three months later they appeared in Shanghai for their first overseas performance at World Expo.

On October 3, the band released three singles and just two months later their first album, TAKE ☆ OFF before taking a break, having spent an enormous amount of time recording and performing that year.

By January, PASSPO☆ was back in action: they performed at the event Sun Fire 2011 in Yokohama and appeared as a nine-girl unit at the Kanda shrine's Setsubun Festival on February 3.

Having been around for less than two years, it was a delightful surprise for many fans when it was announced that PASSPO☆ was going major. Within just three months of the announcement the band saw the release of their first major single Shoujo hikou which rocked the Oricon charts and stole the spot for number one.

In July, the group will head overseas for the second time and perform at Japan Expo in France. With so much talent, PASSPO☆ can only go up from here. Fans should absolutely keep their eye out for this upcoming group!
