GRANRODEO was formed in 2005 when KISHOW and e-ZUKA first met. By that time, KISHOW had already been a renowned seiyuu, while e-ZUKA worked with popular singer Minami Kuribayashi and composed several anime soundtracks. The two met while working on the soundtrack for anime series “Kimi ga nozomu eien." After this collaboration, they decided to form a rock band. KISHOW became the vocalist and lyricist while e-ZUKA was the guitarist and main composer of the newborn band.
GRANRODEO released five singles in two years, all of them used as theme songs for various anime series and TV shows. After the fifth single came out on May 23rd, 2007, the duo released their first full-length album, RIDE ON THE EDGE.
The band stuck to a very tight release schedule, which resulted in the releases of three new singles and their second album, Instinct, on September 26th, 2008. That year also saw the release of their first live DVD, GRANRODEO First Live Tour "Rodeo Delight."
In the middle of 2009, GRANRODEO worked on the soundtrack for popular anime “Needles”, where their song modern strange cowboy was used as an opening theme. A year later, they released another original album, BRUSH the SCAR LEMON, and right after that, composed the soundtrack for the anime series “Togainu no chi.” Both releases saw a minor change in music – the duo wasn’t concentrated on heavy metal anymore and added more J-rock elements into their tunes.
In 2010, GRANRODEO held their first performance at legendary Nippon Budokan to celebrate their fifth anniversary.
The duo set the release date of their new album SUPERNOVA for March 23rd, 2011. Unfortunately, it had to be postponed due to the Tohoku earthquake. The fans didn’t have to wait long though – the album came out on April 11th and reached 13th on the Oricon Weekly Charts. On this album, the band returned to their original metal sound.
The first release of 2012 was a b-side collection, titled GRANRODEO B‐side Collection "W." In March, GRANRODEO released a new DVD, while April saw the release of a new single, Can do, which was used as an opening theme for anime “Kuroko no basuke,” an adaptation of a popular manga.
