[Champagne] was formed in 2007 as a quartet: Yoohei Kawakami on vocals, Hiroyuki Isobe on bass, Masaki Shirai on guitar and Satoyasu Shoumura as a supporting member on drums.
Even though [Champagne] was formed in 2007, they began releasing music in 2010. The imaginative Where's My Potato showed the band's and Kawakami's talent to the listeners. In March, they were featured in a cover album named Disney Rocks!!, where they were featured with the song Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious from the movie "Mary Poppins". In April, the drummer Shooumura became an official member of [Champagne], and a few months later their first single, city, was released. In the summer they played in several festivals, such as ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL and SUMMER SONIC 2010. It didn't take long until a new single, You're So Sweet & I Love You, was released in November.
The year 2011's activities began in February with the release of the band's first album, I Wanna Go To Hawaii. The album sold quickly and was seen in the Oricon chart's indie list. Adding on to their success, their tour was sold-out. In May, they played at the ROCKS TOKYO festival, and in October their first live DVD, It's Me And Me Against The World, which was filmed during their latest album's promotion tour, was released. With a new single and information about a studio album, the year ended well for [Champagne]'s fans.
In April 2012, [Champagne] released a second album, named Schwarzenegger, which also appeared on the Oricon's indie chart list. In July, the single, Kill me if you can, was released and soon after the band released more material, as their second live DVD was seen on record shop shelves in October. At the beginning of November, [Champagne] released info about another single, starrrrrrr/namida ga koboresou, which was released in January.
Anyone who has heard [Champagne] can tell that this band has definitely deserved its fans.
