Screamo quartet NEW BREED's history began in 2003, and although the band have only a few releases to their name, they have clearly demonstrated their ability to make truly unforgettable music. Their catchy melodies will surely appeal to fans outside the screamo scene.
Screamo band NEW BREED's history began in 2003, when vocalist Toyo and guitarist Tama started playing together. A year later, the duo were joined by bassist Tommie-B and drummer Shun. Shun's tenure on the drummer’s stool was short-lived, and he decided to leave after just a year. Mark soon took his place.
2005 was NEW BREED's first year of activity. They released their first singles breed in and in... and [breeder reactor] the 4 plugs...,and their gig calendar wasn't empty either, playing over a hundred lives throughout the year.
NEW BREED went quiet until 2010, when news emerged they had joined record label ZESTONE RECORDS. The band's fans didn’t have to wait long for their first V.A. appearance VERSUS Round 2. Then on October 10th, their first studio Heart racing moments for all Lovers & Haters was released, featuring guest appearances from the likes of JON (fade) and SHO (The Twisted Harbor Town).
NEW BREED spent most of 2011 on the road, but also appeared on two V.A. releases. In December that year, the band found themselves in Florida, USA, where work commenced on their second album with producer Cameron Mizell.
In January 2012, the band returned to Japan to join CROSSFAITH on a tour that visited seven different cities. In April, NEW BREED released A Little Bit of Bitterness, their first single since 2005. Second album the PIONEERS of SENSATION was released in June, and after a tour of China in July, the band toured Japan throughout the autumn in support of their new album.
During 2013, NEW BREED contributed to three V.A. releases, but mainly concentrated on lives. Their myriad performances included appearances at MONSTER ENERGY OUTBURN TOUR 2013 at Sapporo PENNY LANE24 in March, playing alongside SiM and coldrain, and The AP Tour 2013 at Shibuya-AX in May, where they joined The Used, Silverstein and CROSSFAITH. NEW BREED also revisited China in August on the 2 days in 2 ways tour, playing in Hong Kong and Guangzhou.
2014 has also been given over to live performances, particularly with other bands. In September NEW BREED will be supporting Her Name In Blood on the Hokkaido leg of that band’s nationwide Return Of The Beast Tour 2014.
As they continue to win audiences over with their impressive lives, intense sound and engrossing lyrics, you simply cannot talk about Japan’s extreme music scene without first hearing NEW BREED.
