Interview with Kiyoshi ryujin 25

In terms of being unusual in the idol scene, Kiyoshi ryujin 25 ranks among the top few groups with wacky concepts. In a scene that prizes the sweet and pure "just for you" image of its girls, polygamous idol group Kiyoshi ryujin 25 does a one-eighty on the standard fare. The unique group spoke to JaME in an interview @JAM EXPO 2015, which was held at Yokohama Arena on August 29th.

First of all, I would like to thank you on behalf of JaME for agreeing to this interview. As this is JaME's very first interview with you, can you introduce your group to JaME readers?

Ryujin: We're Kiyoshi ryujin 25.
Momoka: We're the "Honeymoon" group! Kiyoshi ryujin 25 are a polygamous idol group, consisting of Ryujin and his wives.
Sakino: I'm the first wife, Kiyoshi Sakino.
Momoka: I'm the second wife, Kiyoshi Momoka.
Ami: I'm the third wife, Kiyoshi Ami.
Misaki: I'm the fourth wife, Kiyoshi Misaki.
Kanon: I'm the sixth wife, Kiyoshi Kanon.
Yuuka: I'm the seventh wife, Kiyoshi Yuuka.

Your concept is contrary to the fixed image of idols. What made you want to do something so different?

Ryujin: There’s no particular reason, but it’s because it’s more fun when there are many girls.
Momoka: It’s because he loves girls!

Kiyoshi-san, who is your favourite wife right now?

Ryujin: Do I have to choose just one?
Momoka: No, no!
Ami: It’s me, right? Wait …
Ryujin: Yeah, maybe not the third wife (laughs).
Ami: Recently he’s cold to me, but third wife will do her best to earn the love of my husband!

Wives, please tell us one good thing and one bad thing about your husband.

Misaki: The best thing about him …
Ami: Everything!
Kanon: A bad thing about him is that he leaves onigiri (rice balls) on the floor!

You will release a new album titled PROPOSE in September. What can we expect from it?

Yuuka: On September 2nd, our first full album PROPOSE goes on sale. It will come in a regular and a limited first press edition, and a souvenir version. It’s packed with many things.
Ami: It’s full of happiness!
Ryujin: It’s full of things you would not find in releases of usual idols.

Your upcoming Japan tour is titled Honeymoon tour. What kind of preparations are you making for this tour? Can you tell us more about it?

Momoka: We'll be wearing costumes different from the ones we usually wear, and we are going to play all songs from the new album, so it'll be a tour full of different things.

Your first two PVs are on the J-TOP rankings on French TV channel Nolife. Do you know about this? How do you feel about it?

Kiyoshi ryujin 25: Seriously? We didn’t know! I've got goose bumps! We're happy! (excited and clapping their hands)
Ami: Seriously? Why? Did they recognize polygamy? It’s great!
Ryujin: We're very happy. So, call us to the Japan Expo!
Kiyoshi ryujin 25: Please call us!

What is your song recommendation for people who want to discover Kiyoshi ryujin 25?

Sakino: The song Will♡You♡Marry♡Me? contains the essence of our group, so please listen to it.

Before the group started, Kiyoshi-san wrote and composed some songs for other groups, and made some collaborations. Can we hope for more of such collaborations in the future?

Ryujin: Yes, if there is any occasion I would like to do it again.

Any chance of seeing you perform overseas in the future?

Kiyoshi ryujin 25: We want to go! (all scream)
Momoka: Wow!
Ami: This was like a reflex reaction. (laughs)
