On September 25th, many fans with dark makeup and clothes, colorful hair and evident excitement on their faces gathered from a very early hour at the Lunario del Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City to witness nu metal band
girugamesh for the first time. The audience was euphoric as they entered the venue, and in the front rows of the VIP section fans didn’t stop asking how many minutes were left till 20:00. The wait was eternal, and the screams calling for the band, as well as for each of the members, were increasing minute by minute.
Suddenly the lights went off and the
Intro of
MONSTER’s album started.
Nii,
Яyo and
ShuU took the stage with a big smile on their faces before taking their positions with their respective instruments just when the fans shouted in unison, “It’s
MONSTER!” But it was when
Satoshi took the stage that the screams made the venue rumble. Wasting no time, the band started with
Break Down, and the fans received it with full joy.
Nii,
Satoshi and
ShuU started jumping with energy and getting close to the edge of the stage to incite the audience, who didn’t hesitate to jump, some of them singing along with all their hearts.
Satoshi’s effusiveness was such that his microphone's cord got a bit entangled with
Nii’s guitar as he moved from side to side of the stage, making fans sing together in
gravitation.
The fans received the first MC of the night with yells: “Hey guys! We are the Japanese band
girugamesh! This is the first time that we come to Mexico! Thanks everyone for coming today. Let’s make it the best day! Come on! Scream!” shouted an excited
Satoshi in the middle of the screams of the fans before announcing the next song,
INCOMPLETE. The electronic intro of this song made everyone start dancing despite the small space they had at the front rows of the venue, turning the evening into a real party. However, the atmosphere and the headbanging grew even more intense when
antlion pit began at Lunario. The attendees began to jump without control, so those who were static felt the floor trembling under their feet, inviting them to join in the chaos.
The easily recognizable intro of
driving time made its appearance thanks to
ShuU, who stole all the attention on stage by showing his impressive skills during his solo. The fans clapped effusively and joined the band in the impressive jumps they made onstage with no sign of tiredness at all. The fists of the audience rose in the air every time they weren’t too busy savagely banging their heads to the rhythm of the music or making gutturals. After this song, the logo of the band that was hung behind
Яyo turned red for the song that
Satoshi announced was next:
volcano. Fans didn't seem to be able to get a break, because the vocalist and guitarist didn’t stop inciting them to clap and scream out loud. Fortunately for the audience,
resolution gave them the perfect opportunity to take a break … at least for a moment, since the contagious rhythm made it impossible for the fans to stop dancing. The dancing continued with
Suiren, during which
Nii delighted the audience with a stunning solo that provoked hectic movements from the fans once again.
Then, one of the most chorused songs of the night started:
Owari to mirai. The fans’ chants were so loud that the voice of
Satoshi was overshadowed by them sometimes, which was why the band smiled with great joy and the singer chose to point the microphone at his fans multiple times.
“Are you having fun? I wanna sing along!” said
Satoshi before talking to the audience in Japanese. Despite the language barrier that made it difficult to understand him, the fans shouted with excitement.
Go ahead started with apparent calm before screams and headbanging unraveled once again under the white and red lights that filled the venue, accompanying perfectly the energy released by all within the crowd. Even
Nii and
Satoshi interacted a little more on stage while
Яyo and
ShuU incited their fans more and more before
Satoshi made everyone sing with him.
“Everybody scream!” asked the singer before
Dirty story.
Satoshi asked everyone in the venue to join him and shout “Oooh, ooh!” and the fans didn’t hesitate to do so after going crazy, jumping even higher. When
Another way resounded in the venue, the fatigue of the crowd was evident, but despite this, fans gathered all the strength they had left to raise their arms with joy. Another brief MC in Japanese helped the fans recover their breath a little for what was coming next. From the very first notes of
evolution, madness began with the chants, the hectic headbanging and the dancing.
Яyo joined the dancing too on more than one occasion behind his drum set.
After this amazing display of energy, the band members said goodbye and left the stage. Some fans took this encore time to recover their energy, while others seemed to have recharged with
evolution. Soon they began to stomp on the floor while shouts of “Oe oe oe oe,
giru …
gamesh … ” filled the venue.
girugamesh returned with
Zecchou BANG!! and thus chaos reigned in the room once more. The audience began to applaud while
ShuU’s bass marked the beginning of the catchy track. Some fans sang the chorus while others danced according to the PV’s choreography and shouted “Yeah!”
BORDER continued with the overflowing energy of that night.
Satoshi directed the microphone to the audience to sing with them and smiled, pleased by the amazing response they were getting.
arrow came to calm the fans a little, announcing that the end of that night was imminent. For that reason, fans enjoyed the moment and cheered throughout the song despite the fact they were already exhausted. Suddenly, the lights went out to create a somber atmosphere while
Яyo began to play
Kowarete iku sekai. With their hands in the air moving in a gentle swaying motion, fans accompanied
Satoshi’s voice faithfully with this heartbreaking ballad that gave the perfect end to this perfectly balanced evening filled with old and new songs.
With a “¡gracias! (Thank you)” from
Satoshi, gifts for the passionate audience, a group photo and a “See you next time!” from
Яyo, each of the members said goodbye, visibly excited by the passion of their Mexican fans who left the venue more than pleased with the stunning performance of a band they hope to have the opportunity to see once again.
