Psycho le Cému’s special act Legend of Sword made its comeback on January 23rd at Tokyo’s Toyosu PIT since last being performed in 2009 as the band’s 10th anniversary project.

Colorful lights of fans’ glow sticks lit up the venue when the background music of a popular role playing game played. Suddenly, after a black out, the opening movie began to roll on the stage screen. The narration introduced five chosen soldiers who set out on a journey to defeat Murderer Dragon and save the world: vocalist DAISHI as Hero with his holy sword Excalibur, guitarist AYA as Fairy, guitarist Lida as Cyborg, drummer YURA-SAMA as Sage, and finally bassist seek as Prodigy. The show started out with a short play showing the five heroes’ battle against Murderer Dragon. Sadly, the five heroes lost against the power of Murderer Dragon.

Fans’ cheers brought the five heroes back to life. They stood up again and started to play the opening song Murderer Death Kill. The band was on fire from the beginning. “Let me hear your voice!” DAISHI’s powerful vocals immediately grabbed fans’ hearts. The aggressive song with its melodious twin guitars and precise, top-speed drum beats filled fans with excitement. At the same time, seek, who literally covered himself with red body paint, showed his enormous stage presence with his aggressive bass line. In response, fans fist-pumped and shouted together with the three guitarists.

During Ai no uta, fans enjoyed dancing together with AYA while they sung along with the chorus with DAISHI. The interactive style of the band’s live show was at its best when the band played their cover of KOME KOME CLUB’s 1990’s classic Roman Hikou, adding a rock taste to one of Japan’s all-time favorite pop songs, and once again AYA led the singalong with his charming choreography. Fans’ unified voices and moves created a spectacular view in the venue.

After the song, the second part of the play started from the sequence in which DAISHI looked for his party to face Murderer Dragon again. All of them went through tough training and were now ready for the final battle. During the play, YURA-SAMA actually taught his finishing maneuver to fans. Fans prepared themselves for the last fight by catching on with his aerobics dance moves. Finally, the last battle of the heroes and Murderer Dragon started. During the battle, fans aided the heroes by joining in with YURA-SAMA’s aerobics dance style finishing maneuver. At the end, DAISHI’s holy sword Excalibur slew the dragon. The heroes came out victorious and brought peace back to the world.

However, the band continued to entertain fans after the play’s end rolled on the stage screen. Now, the five members gathered with their microphones on center stage and the instrumental music of the new song BLADE DANCE started to play. During the song, each member took a vocal part in turns. Psycho le Cému showed fans that they actually have moves during a brand new dance number in which Lida delivered a passionate rap, while YURA-SAMA and fans enjoyed dancing the aerobics choreography together. The song literally turned the venue into a dance floor. The band continued to treat fans with one of their classics Kono hoshi ni negai o, and later with a pop song Shun ka shuu tou.

“Happy new year. Are you having great time? This outfit is quite freezing, so I would like to play a song that warms me up. I often stage dive when I get excited, so watch out for my red body paint,” seek said to fans before the band played the rampaging number Liberty, Babies. seek lived up to his words and literally painted fans in red by going for a crowd surf during the song.

The band closed the show with Sei~excalibur~ken. DAISHI held up his holy sword to stir up fans before the song started. Melodious twin guitar riffs awakened bravery in fans’ hearts and they sung the chorus along with the band at the top of their lungs. Lida’s aggression-filled guitar solo created the climax of the song, and the band and fans shook the 3,000-plus capacity venue by jumping around together.

During the encore, the band celebrated its glorious return by playing Akiramenai DAYS. “It’s been quite a while since we came back. We became more powerful as a band than before. Although the five of us have difficult personalities, we would like to continue our journey together. The next song gives us courage to chase a dream. I cannot imagine our show without this song,” DAISHI said before the closing song REMEMBRANCE. Ten years have now passed since the band went on hiatus on 2006, but the band’s hope-filled performance and fans' singing along opened a new page of their history together. “I love you all!” DAISHI shouted at the end of the song, and the band and fans took a group photo after the show ended.
