BAND-MAID is on its way to be a world-renowned rock band after successful shows in both the United States and United Kingdom, and will have their first solo show in Mexico on October 9th. Five young and ambitious rock musicians in maid costumes make a statement with the release of new album Brand New MAID that they are serious about and capable of realizing their goal of “world domination.”
The album begins with melodious hard-rock song the non-fiction days. Relentless, sharp-edged guitar riffs combine with a powerful drum beat and heavy bass sound to immediately draw listeners into the band’s new musical presentation. SAIKI’s charismatic vocals show she has a voice to lead a technical and explosive rock song while MIKU also gives an impressive backing chorus. Modulations during the song will surely thrill listeners.
SAIKI’s vocals charm listeners with her coolness and cuteness in the following passionate love song LOOK AT ME. The polyphonic guitar riffs of MIKU, KANAMI and MISA create a delirious melody that will make fans clap during a live show.
Third song ORDER is a killer number. The band shows their signature twin vocal style, mixing its melodious chemistry well with ruthless guitar strokes and AKANE’s pounding drum shots and kicks. Also, the solo sections of MISA’s bass slapping and KANAMI’s guitar tapping will wow rock fans just as they did in Thrill from the band’s previous album New Beginning. Listeners can experience the strong personalities of each members’ sound during this song, and then the band’s resourcefulness in a jazzy and groovy rock song Brand-New Road, which showcases the instrumentalists’ skilful ensemble.
The album also has songs with lyrics written by band members. MIKU and SAIKI co-wrote the lyrics for fifth song YURAGU, while MIKU wrote the lyrics of the following track FREEDOM, an exhilarating number loaded with the band’s ‘leave no regrets’ attitude. During the song’s chorus, the cute maids actually sing “Get out my way! My way! My way!” while the instrumentalists also blast out their rock spirits.
The band shows a different color on the following mellow and emotional number Before Yesterday, and closes the album with alone, which reveals BAND-MAID’s potential as the band composed the entire song themselves.
Brand New MAID is BAND-MAID’s first album to get an international release and will be available across the UK and Europe through JPU Records from June 17th. The CD version contains the exclusive bonus track REAL EXISTENCE as well as an extra booklet containing lyric translations and transliterations into English. A limited edition T-shirt bundle is also available.
