Highlights from "utatsunagi", "StayHome" and Other COVID-19-related Hashtags

While musicians in Japan are unable to hold concerts due to the COVID-19 crisis, they've been entertaining each other and the fans by taking part in the hashtag "utatsunagi" (roughly translating to "song connection", or "connected by song"). To participate, artists upload a short video of themselves singing a song from their home or another isolated location and then tag someone else they would like to see do the same.

As many musicians currently have a bit of unexpected free time to work with, this hashtag has spread through countless scenes and the videos have begun ranging from simple solo shots with an acoustic guitar to carefully edited collaborations. To help ensure that readers who aren't regular Twitter users don't miss out, we picked out 10 of our favourites a while back, then added another 16 as the hashtag continued to spread. In this round, we've picked out 20 that left an impression on our team. You'll find videos from a wide range of artists, including everyone from legendary rockers to underground idols.
