EXILE - Your eyes only ~aimai na boku no rinkaku~

EXILE's first single.

Released in 2001, Your eyes only ~aimai na boku no rinkaku~ is the debut single of the now famous Japanese pop group, EXILE.

The single begins with the Japanese version of its title song. The first seconds consist of frail music and a hum, which is so high-pitched that one is not even sure if it’s a woman vocalist or a male vocalist. The song continues on and fingers snapping play a fun part as the rhythm. Your eyes only ~aimai na boku no rinkaku~ gets stronger as it goes on and every second brings more drama and interest into play. Nevertheless, as a whole, the song seems to be a safe bet, which shouldn't surprise. While the track isn't bad, it seems to lack a purpose and isn't up to par with EXILE's current releases. This is rather understandable and forgivable, however, since it is an older single and the band has developed so much during these past years.

The second track is the exact same song, only this time it’s in English. There is little to say about it that hasn't been said of its Japanese counterpart, aside that their English pronounciation is quite good. The last track is an instrumental version of this particular song and is pretty much worth skipping. Pop songs don't tend to do well as instrumental versions and this one is sadly no exception.

After breaking into the top five on the Oricon Charts, this single has since gone on to sell nearly a quarter of a million copies. While not as polished or up to par as EXILE's current offerings, Your eyes only ~aimai na boku no rinkaku~ is still worth a listen for those interested in the beginnings of this now well-known group.
