HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR

With their second single and third release of the year, HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR continues to show their listeners that they're not your typical pop rock band. This young band has been successful with performing in the USA and continues to impress both their local and overseas fans with their music.

The title track, Dreams, which is also used for the ending theme of the anime series "Darker Than BLACK", is a symphonic tune with light vocal tones and instrumental play. Bringing the listener into the song is YUSUKE's voice, which isn't used as often as it should be, but throughout this track we're able to hear a soothing version of his vocal talent. As usual, MAKI's voice is very powerful, capturing any note that she aims for with little effort.

The following track, Feel Like Dreams, steps up the tempo a notch on the single. Not sharing the heavenly melodies of its predecessor, this song is quite upbeat. This track sounds similar to previous HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR songs in terms of the happiness felt through the vocals and joyous instrumental playing. A little more than halfway, YUSUKE's voice is synthesized, which is a weird yet interesting addition to the track.

This young band shows their listeners a more aggressive side with Mushroom, which is much heavier than the other tracks opening with YUSUKE's growling voice. Even with the rhythm much faster in this track, it is rather catchy and soon the listener will find him or herself bobbing their head with the music.

The single finishes off with Dreams (Instrumental); considering how gentle and light is the original track, this instrumental version is very peaceful and uplifting. Not having any lyrics, the listener is able to reflect on the beauty that HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR can provide. The guitar solo seems much more powerful in this track as it stands out even more without being proceeded by vocals.

Compared to their latest album, San, this single is absolutely wonderful for previous fans of the band and newcomers. HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR gives the listener various songs showing their diversity from soft, sweet symphonic melodies to catchy and more aggressive instrumental play.
