Anna Tsuchiya's new album strip me? is her first European release, and to mark the occasion JaME scored an interview with the young woman, in spite of her jam packed schedule. We took the opportunity to talk to Anna Tsuchiya about her new album as well as all of the other projects she is involved with.

Your album “strip me?” will be released in Europe. Why did you choose this name for the album?

Anna Tsuchiya: I made this title to show my artless, simple nature, and I wanted people to listen to my music without any prejudice and not be influenced by my modeling and acting.

How do you feel knowing this CD will be sold in Europe?

Anna Tsuchiya: I’m simply happy. I want as many people as possible to be touched by my music.

In your promotional videos your style is constantly changing, how do you decide which style to go with next?

Anna Tsuchiya: I think about by myself, then I consult with my PV director and we move forward with the idea.

You've been to France, America and Taiwan, so where do you want to go now? Do you plan to hold a tour in Europe and America?

Anna Tsuchiya: You know, I really want to send my songs to all over the world.

What was your best memory during your oversea visits?

Anna Tsuchiya: The food was delicious!

When did you get the idea to cover Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors" on the acoustic guitar?

Anna Tsuchiya: I thought of it three days before the live, and I practiced the guitar for three days.

Seeing that you are a mother, an actress, a singer and last but not least, a model: where do you get your drive from?

Anna Tsuchiya: I just want to enjoy everything.

Modeling, acting, music: do you see them all as equally important work or is one more of a hobby?

Anna Tsuchiya: I do only what I want to do as an artist who expresses things, and I don’t care about genres such as modeling, acting, or music so much.

With such a busy schedule, do you ever get any time to yourself?

Anna Tsuchiya: I have little.

Recently you were the main actress of the movie Sakuran. How was it?

Anna Tsuchiya: It was hard because my wig and kimonos were heavy, but it’s an honor to appear in a work of the director Mika Ninagawa, and to be a main actress.

In our interview at Japan Expo you told us you wanted to meet Daft Punk. So did you finally meet them?

Anna Tsuchiya: I performed on the same day as them at the Japanese music festival SUMMER SONIC, but after I finished my live I was very tired so I didn’t go to see them.

What can we expect from your next single?

Anna Tsuchiya: I haven’t decided yet.

Do you have a message for your fans?

Anna Tsuchiya: I want many people to listen to my music, so I’ll keep working hard at it.

JaME would like to thank Tsuchiya Anna, Avex Entertainment Inc. and Wasabi Records for making this interview possible.
