Matsu hito/Chitta aza

Jully

Considering the band's busy schedule filled with a multitude of live performances in 2008, Jully gave their fans what they wanted on March 26: a new release. The release, titled Matsu hito/Chitta aza, takes the listener back to earlier Jully days, but also brings a track with a new touch.

Starting with Matsu hito, the listener is greeted with Shinichirou's unique voice for a brief solo along with light guitar sounds before Tsuyoshi starts the beat as he strikes his drums. The track is fast-paced but not too fast, and rather enjoyable, allowing the band's fans the usual enjoyment while listening to their songs. Ryota's guitar playing blends in well with the music until about half way through the song, then he allows his guitar to be the highlight with an impressive, quick-played solo.

Chitta aza is simply the best song on the single. It starts off slowly with Ryota's guitar, then Tsuyoshi bass drums trickles in before the song explodes with more power. As Shinichirou begins to sing, the tempo of the song changes; Tsuyoshi plays quick beats while Ryoto plays soft strokes on his guitar. Even though the two sounds are on opposite ends of the spectrum, they complement each other, especially when Yujiro's bass is added. During the chorus, the drums slow just a little and more cymbals are played. The guitar solo on this track isn't as impressive as it was in the previous track, but it allows a different sound within the mix of melodies.

Matsu hito/Chitta aza is definitely pleasing to the ear for any listener. The tracks aren't too fast, nor are they too slow; they are just the perfect tempo. The band allows their unique characteristics that put them apart from the "usual" visual kei band to show in their work, and this single is a display of that.
