On April 13th, the self-proclaimed 'Gothic loud rock band' GaGaalinG held their first one-man live, entitled 4 DROPS OF BLOOD. The concert took place in Omotesandou’s Fab, a small but nice live house close to one of the most expensive avenues in Tokyo. At the entrance, a huge bouquet of flowers was displayed, the sign showing that it came from the famous designer h.Naoto who congratulated the band with their first one-man. Upon entering the hall itself, the first thing that caught one’s attention was the merchandise stand, which displayed the band’s CDs, t-shirts, wristbands and other merchandise for sale.

The crowd that evening was surprisingly, rather mixed. Of course, the die-hard GaGaalinG fans gathered in front of the stage, anxiously waiting for the band to appear.

Around half past six, the first electro-sounds floated out of the speakers and the band members appeared on stage one after another, each receiving loud cheers and applause from the audience. Suddenly, the background sounds changed and the quartet led by the female singer MYM started off with the catchy song Rendezvous, which was well-known by the fans. The audience was on flames right from the very start and they enthusiastically moved along with the upbeat song.

After the songs Twisted Heart and Rain man, the out of breath vocalist started on her first MC, welcoming the audience to GaGaalinG's concert. Then they continued with Flower, a really catchy mid-tempo song with trance-like influences that gave it a fresh and modern feeling.

There were two more MCs then, in which the band thanked the designer h.Naoto who had provided the outfits of the band members. The outfits were all in the trademark punky, gothic h.Naoto style, with mostly black and red colors. MYM’s outfit in particular stood out, as she was wearing a top that left her arms and most of her back bare and a special contraption on her arm with strips of black leather dangling down from them, creating a nice effect when she was moving around.

Then, for the next MC, the band asked the audience to come closer to the stage because they were about to make a very important announcement. First, they announced they would be releasing a European edition of their latest album Royal Stranger on the German label Gan-Shin on June 13th. The album will be available in eighteen countries. After that, MYM and bassist JUN talked about their upcoming lives.

After some more songs, it was time for a guitar solo by MOTO G-3 and an awesome drum solo of about five minutes by Cherry G, who was pounding away behind his drum kit, wearing his characteristic headband wrapped around his blonde dyed hair. During these performances, MYM disappeared before returning to the stage in a different outfit to perform four more songs. The lights went out for the first time around 8 PM. The second MYM left the stage, the fans started screaming for an encore and it didn’t take too long for the band to change their outfits and return to the stage.

The first encore was i-SCREAM MACHINE, a catchy, moderately paced song with a haunting feel to it. The second encore and the final song of the evening consisted of the ballad-like number, Michishirube.

Around half past eight the concert was over and the fans started to leave the hall. GaGaalinG had definitely done an excellent job with their first one-man live and with the concert they proved that they are certainly ready for bigger stages!
