In the key of life...

Motion Dive

Motion Dive's second single In the key of life… was released on January 2008 as a digital single which included three songs. The single starts with the powerful instrumental song Unleashed, which brings a nice edgy start and strong attitude to the single. Though it's quite long for an instrumental song, it is captivating enough to hold the listener's interest.

The second track, My Lovin' Day, changes the tone of the single to something peaceful and smooth. The soft voice of the vocalist Wonki is joined with smooth rhythmical beats, and although the vocalist's singing technique is slightly lacking, the song still maintains a strong image.

The beginning of the last song Since is gradually built up with singing and guitar parts eventually growing powerful. Both guitarists complement each other well and all the members of the band bring their parts to the song seamlessly. In general this is a track that you'll remember.

Motion Dive offers a piece that demonstrates maturity, something rare for an indie band. It maintains a strong image and shows they know what they do best and they do it. All the songs are interesting, fit together well and make for an enjoyable listening experience. The order of the songs has been well thought thought too. Some of the vocalist's higher notes are a bit disturbing on the ear and Wonki's voice is at its best when staying with lower notes accompanied by strong bass. Overall, a nice strong single with a smooth edge on it.
