Janne Da Arc

Kasumi yuku sora se ni shite was released on January 16th, 2003. The title song is also featured on the album ANOTHER STORY, which came out less than a month after the single, and served as an ending theme for the anime "Asobotto Senki Goku.”

The single kicks off with the catchy song Kasumi yuku sora se ni shite. It’s very cheery and lively from the start. Listeners should pay special attention to yasu’s excellent vocals, which fit the melody perfectly, especially during the calmer chorus. Part of the chorus is also sung in English. Obviously, any Janne Da Arc song can’t be without you’s solo in the middle. It is a jazz influenced part, and the slower pace contrasts with the rest of the track, making it even more interesting.

The atmosphere changes with next track. answer is slower than Kasumi yuku sora se ni shite; it starts with a disquieting intro to which other instruments are added. Low pitched guitars, supported by a powerful bass, produces sounds that you feel in your stomach. Unlike in Kasumi yuku sora se ni shite, yasu’s vocal seems to be a bit monotonous, but it works with the music and atmosphere. His voice is lower than usual, and because of that, it helps give the track a slightly mysterious mood. you’s solo is – as always – excellent, preceded by a rhythmic keyboard motive played by kiyo. The song ends with a melange of guitar notes that sum up the whole track in an interesting way. When it starts, answer seems to be a little boring and not as catchy as its predecessor, but after some time we start to wonder if it isn’t even better than the title song.

The single Kasumi yuku sora se ni shite should satisfy every Janne Da Arc fan. It contains everything the band is loved for: splendid music, wonderful guitar solos, an interesting keyboard line and, of course, yasu’s amazing voice. It also won't bore those who don’t know the band because it contains varied tracks: its atmosphere changes from joyful and energetic to a bit eerie and unsettling. It's a CD recommended to everyone who like a good rock music.
