Ai no uta (Limited Edition)

Koda Kumi

Koda Kumi released her 37th single with the romantic title Ai no uta in September 2007. In total, there are five tracks on the disc. Within the first few minutes, you get the feeling that you have heard them before - no wonder, because when you compare these songs with her older stuff, you quickly recognize the parallels with the single real Emotion. But here, the order of the tracks is different.

Ai no uta is accompanied by a piano and is carried by the tender vocal interpretation and the stylish musical background. The title track could be the twin of Sen no kotoba (B-side of real Emotion). The second track, Come over, can be described as lively and happy. The pop rhythm makes fun and it is very catchy, but unfortunately very short as well.

You can dream of the fantastic with the instrumental version of the title track. Here, the magical sounding strings can finally be heard clearly. On the second instrumental track, the rousing refrain of “wooh” calls remain. The last track is a calmer interpretation of the title track. Here, the R’n’B style is predominant; the strong bass line drives the entire song. It may not be to everyone’s taste, but it's not hard on the ears at all.

Even if there are strong parallels to real Emotion, Ai no uta possesses its own charm. The single can be recommend to those who’ve never heard anything from Koda Kumi before because it is pretty catchy, and the current style of the pop princess is reflected in the two impressive songs.
