Creature is the first Sel’m’s release after the line-up change: Nagi (ex-Viored, ex-Shulla) joined the band as the second guitarist. The single contains two tracks which are notably different from the group’s earlier works.

Sel’m’s members intended to make a title track catchy and appealing to the majority of listeners. and it should be said that they meet this goal. Creature begins with a nice guitar intro to which, after a while, the rhythm section joins. What’s interesting and uncharacteristic is that at the beginning, we hear the chorus, not verses. The chorus is very optimistic, particularly due to the intriguing dialogue between the backing vocals singing "creature” in response to the vocalist. It finishes with a moment of silence, and after that the melody slows down a bit. In the background, slightly rough sounding instruments are clearly heard, especially powerful guitars. The romantic passage allows listeners to catch their breaths. During this part, Tora sings smoothly and is accompanied only by a guitar and the delicate plucking of the rhythm section.

The next song, Saezuri, is calmer than its predecessor, and more balanced. It kicks off with a long instrumental introduction, during which single guitar notes distinguish themselves. Only after a while do the drums and vocals gently join in. The melody is rather simple but perfectly suited to Tora’s way of singing – in the moments when his voice is more intense, the melody becomes more powerful, too. A little more happens in the chorus: it has a clear beat and more audible guitar playing. Towards the end of the track, everything becomes calm again, leaving the listener fascinated.

If you were one the people who doubted the decision of hiring a new member, after listening to this single, you will definitely change your mind. Because of the second guitarist, the band is able to attain more powerful and intense sounds and become more interesting. The group has gotten a richer means of expression, and – as these two songs clearly show off – they used it to create something new, but didn't abandon their old style. We’re waiting with anticipation for another Sel’m release because what they offer next will hopefully be just as good as Creature.
