Takasugi Satomi

Takasugi Satomi celebrated her musical debut with Tabibito. Visually, the jacket artwork is a real eye catcher; it should attract attention from anyone who likes traditional Japanese art and culture, and it gives a hint as to the musical style of the singer.

From the very first second of the CD, you are drawn into a mystical, oriental world that blends traditional Japanese, Chinese and Indian melodies. Satomi’s pleasant voice snuggles up to the classical arrangements, and somehow not only the hero of the song is going on to a journey, but the listener is as well. The second track, Veranda no hana, is another classical composition, but this time there aren’t any oriental melodies. The main instrument is the good old piano. The ballad is very thoughtful, and Satomi herself sings the song in a very sensitive way. For fans who can’t get enough from the melodies, instrumental versions of both songs are available.

Tabibito is an outstanding debut single that is surprising and captivating from the very beginning. Anyone who likes traditional tunes needs to have this single!
