Irokui. Live at Kanazawa AZ
Irokui. takes Kanazawa by storm for the first time and leaves a memorable impression.
On November 8th, Irokui. held a one-man live in Kanazawa AZ, which was the third place on their scheduled tour. Although this was the first time for them to do a one-man live in Kanazawa, many fans came and lined up front of the venue, and some of them even came from the live held in Niigata the day before. When the venue turned dark, fans started clapping rhythmically, and the band members appeared on stage one by one. Drummer Natsuki struck a pose as he put his hand on his forehead and looked far away. Bassist Ritsu bowed like a butler. Shuuta and Hazuki appeared, then Yuuri, who had pink hair, came out last, drawing the audience’s attention to him.
The band kept their backs turned to the audience then turned around all at once under a flash of bright light, and Q,Benshisu no kutsu started with a cheerful mood. The audience moved together perfectly with the music, clapping and jumping when band members instructed them to do so. In Digitalis, everyone raised their red towels and spun them around, and in Uragiru Hermes, they raised their hands, clapped, jumped together and headbanged hard. “It’s hot! Let’s enjoy ourselves!” Yuuri shouted as he squatted and sang like he was talking to the audience.
“Hello Kanazawa! We are Irokui. Honestly speaking, I didn’t think so many people would come. I thought about ten people would come.” Yuuri drew laughter from the audience with his comment. “Niigata’s live was just amazing, I think that the audience left a big dent in the floor there, so we want to make Kanazawa just as good as yesterday.” Then their new song, Fantastic Dreamer~Sleeping beauty~, was introduced. Yuuri explained the simple choreography of the song, and fans enjoyed dancing as they jumped and clapped. This song was impressive in that it developed from a quiet intro to a explosively cheerful main melody. “Let’s sing loudly! Are you ready?” Yuuri asked as Colorful days started. Fans quickly took out pen lights and waved them about in the air, creating a really mysterious setting. Natsuki hit his drums powerfully while Ritsu played bass and jumped about. Shuuta and Hazuki played guitar standing close to each other, and Yuuri raised his hands while singing enthusiastically.
Yuuri shouted “dance!” to kick off Matenrou no ameotoko. The audience started dancing and moved about energetically. Towards the end, Yuuri was lit by a spotlight, which created quite a melancholic mood as the rest of the venue darkened. In the following ballad Ame, concrete, Hazuki played acoustic guitar while Yuuri used a microphone stand and sang. Fans waved their bodies slowly and listened to the song carefully, and when the song finished with Yuuri’s solo, there was a big round of applause.
While fans called the members' name, the band talked about their impressions of this live. Hazuki played ‘air guitar’ as he leaned back to express his emotion, much to the amusement of the crowd. In the song Happy Prince~Shiawase no oujisama wa kangaeru, the coupling song off their new single, there a part where the audience was asked to snap their fingers. The song started and the audience danced perfectly, almost as though they had always known the dance movements they had just been taught.
During Kitsukakeru Tonakai, fans enjoyed waving their hands up and down to the brilliant, beautiful melodies and moving their bodies to the Christmas feeling the song created. Throughout the live, Yuuri often asked things like “are you ready?” with fans answering “”yes!” He also called “raise your hands!” and the crowd eagerly responded by doing as requested. His quick wit and flowing, funny comments really created a great atmosphere.
“Let’s continue!” he shouted, and Meka Usagi(Romeo) started. The venue was washed in red, and the audience headbanged hard. In Jikochuu Alice, Yuuri stretched his hand into the crowd and touched the hands that reached out for him. “You promised you’d be wilder, right? Are you ready?!” he called, egging the audience on. “Last! Let’s rampage!” Yuuri shouted, and the band dove into Aiyaya. This song was a hard song, and everyone shouted a lot and went absolutely wild. When the song finished, Yuuri shouted “Kanazawa is the best! Thank you!” Then the band left the stage.
Soon the calls for an encore filled the venue, and the members responded by reappearing on stage, this time in T-shirts. During Sumikuroi Shiro, Ritsu and Shuuta faced each other as they played, and in Fancky Boy, fans turned around in circles as directed by Yuuri. When the band jumped and moved on stage, the audience copied their movements cheerfully. “Can you finish with your best smile?” Yuuri asked, just before the band played Sorashita sanka, the last song of the night. Everyone lined up hand in hand, swayed and sang together. Yuuri seemed very happy as he shouted “You are best!” The band also shouted “thank you!” again and again before finally leaving the stage.
After they finished playing, the band and fans took a photo together, held their hands and jumped all at once. Irokui.’s first one-man live in Kanazawa ended with a lot of excitement. Their live wasn’t a one-way interaction, with the audience just watching the band on stage; everyone joined in and had fun, which created a great live - one that was certainly enjoyed by all.
