Doremidan promoted their long awaited first Major album at an explosive live in Kanazawa.
Rock band Doremidan has gained popularity with their good-old melodies, Makoto’s unique vocals and their interesting characters, which continue to draw attention. They have been very aggressive in the Indies music scene since their formation in 2002, and carried out their Major debut with the release of their long-awaited first Major album Don’t let me down. Under the theme of "returning to the origin", they reconstructed "the very basis of their strong personality" with a familiarity in their music which everyone likes. The title Don’t let me down is the key phrase from which their band name, Doremidan, is derived. The songs on this album show their strong colors and give high expectations for what is to come in their live concerts.
On December 19th, despite the very cold weather and snow storm outside, the inside of the venue was filled with hot air. With the appearance of vocalist Makoto, guitarists Ryu and KEN, bassist Shinji and drummer Reika, the audience exploded with joyful shouts. Their first song, Time machine, was an up-tempo song set the mood for the live and everyone in the venue seemed to become one.
In their MC, they greeted the audience for a bit since it had been a while since their last live in Kanazawa. They said before the live started, they had worried about the cold weather and how this might effect the concert, but the excitement of the audience swept their worries away. Makoto paid special attention to fans, asking them to be careful on the ice on their way home after the concert. Their care for their fans is probably one of the many reasons Doremidan is so loved.
In the upbeat song Blind android, the live heated up and had the audience dancing, swaying to the music in ballads, while they jumped or moved their hands up and down, side to side in the faster songs. When guitarists KEN and Ryu played a guitar solo, they were greeted with loud cheers, and when Shinji joined to play with them, the cheers grew even stronger.
Here, the mood changed suddenly as a pink light covered the whole venue, and their supreme ballad Koigokoro started. The audience stood sill and listened to Makoto’s beautiful voice carefully and enjoyed the impressive lyrics left in their minds.
“I sweat more than usual today. If fact, this may be the most I have ever sweat in a concert. Are you ready to go on!?” Makoto asked, and the audience answered “Yes!” with cheers so loud the whole venue shook. They went on to perform six hard, upbeat songs continuously, and the venue was enveloped in excitement as things kept getting hotter and hotter. “The next song is the last,” Makoto eventually informed everyone, while fans raised their voices in protest. The last ballad, Parade, was performed brilliantly.
They answered fans' calls for encores twice, playing four songs. “This is really the last song now, so let’s get wild!” the vocalist called out. In the final song , Time machine, the live reached its highest point. The fans all held hands in a big line confirming their strong bonds, and the curtain came down in Kanazawa AZ, putting the end to a great live concert.
