Ame no Waltz (Regular Edition)

Mochida Kaori

Since Mochida Kaori first appeared as the voice of Every Little Thing in 1996, a lot of time has gone by. Recently, she has put more effort in her solo project. At the end of January 2009, she released a new solo single titled Ame no Waltz.

She wrote the song of the same name together with the instrumental group SAKEROCK. The group took care of the dusty waltz tune with the almost drowsy melodies. Kaori's singing can be described as long and drawn out, but this fits very well with the slow brass melody. Ame no Waltz isn't really a song for youth.

In the case of Drop, it is different. The song leans toward country music due to its style, but through the relaxed and mid-tempo acoustic guitar chords, you can wonderfully enjoy this track on the road. The term "road music" perfectly fits Drop, and because of its charm the song is very entertaining. The ending is a bit weak, but it doesn't detract too much from the overall enjoyability of the song.

The third and last tune, Kokoro, is a sad ballad. Kaori's soft voice is once again accompanied by a calm acoustic guitar melody. The emotions contained in the song suggest long forgotten feelings of the past. The songstress wrote this track together with Ohata Yuuichi, who accompanies her on guitar for this track. With its calm, unobtrusive character, the song also distantly reminds of the sad prison song from Disney's "Robin Hood" movie.

Along with the quiet and thoughtful photos on the case, Mochida Kaori's Ame no Waltz delivers a perfect musical background. All listeners can enjoy the warmth and charm of Drop and Kokoro.
