Singer-songwriter
Angela Aki's new concert DVD/Blu-ray
Angela Aki Concert Tour 2014 TAPESTRY OF SONGS - THE BEST OF ANGELA AKI in Budokan 0804 will be released on December 17th.
As the title suggests, it was filmed during her last concert at Nippon Budokan on August 4th this year. Fourteen thousand people attended the concert, which commemorated the tenth anniversary of her major début. Documentary footage spanning the past ten years of her career,
ANGELA AKI 2005-2014, is also included.
As she announced in
a letter to fans on her official website, she's already suspended her music career in Japan and moved to the US with her family to study music at a college. When she was eighteen years old, she entered a university in Washington D.C. and studied international politics, but now at the age of 37, she has never formally studied music before.
Considering her age, it was a major decision to suspend her career, but she stated that she feels that this is her last chance to make her dreams come true. She promised to come back in the near future, and that this is just a suspension, not an end to her career. At the end of the letter, she wrote the following message, in English, to her fans: "Keep on dreaming all your life".
In addition, her first best-of album
TAPESTRY OF SONGS -THE BEST OF ANGELA AKI has already been released in two different types. The regular edition is a single collection, but the limited edition includes a bonus disc with album tracks that she selected by herself, because, according to an interview on her official website, she felt that she couldn't express herself completely with just hit singles. The limited edition also has an extra DVD, which includes all of her music videos and unpublished footage.
