PIKOTARO, the Chiba-based singer-songwriter behind viral song PEN-PINEAPPLE-APPLE-PEN (PPAP), has made his international debut under avex music creative Inc. On October 7th, PIKOTARO released four songs, including PPAP, in 134 countries worldwide via digital distribution channels.
PPAP went viral after PIKOTARO uploaded the song on YouTube, being shared on various social media networks and picked up by TIME, BBC, CNN and other international media in Europe, the USA and Asia. The total view count of the PPAP video on all sites in the world has already surpassed 200 million to date, and the number of related videos are well over 36,000.
